Am I using the most current version of the 2016 1095 and/or 1094 Excel import file?

Am I using the most current Excel import template for my 2016 tax year 1095 and/or 1094 form(s)?

SOLUTION

Each Excel import template contains a version number on the Home tab.  This number will identify what version of the import file is being used.  Locate the chart below that corresponds to the form type you are importing.  The most current version of the Excel template will be listed in the first row of the chat.  Also included are the release date and a listing of any changes that are included in the new template file.

1095-C Excel Import File

Version Number  Release Date Changes

 Version 1.1 November 2016  * Improved the formatting of date fields to allow additional formats
* Added ability to use one or two digits for Plan Start Month
* Increased character length of various fields
* Added ability to enter numbers in the email address

 Version 1.2 November 2016  * Added ability to use periods and pound signs in the employer address fields
* Added ability to use periods and apostrophes in the 1094 contact name, employee name, and covered individual names 
 Version 1.3 December 2016  * Added ability to use special characters in the employee email address

 Version 1.3 December 2016  * Updated telephone number length from 10 to 15 to accommodate foreign telephone numbers
* Added ability to use special characters in the responsible individual email address 

If you need to download an updated version of the import template, you can do so by:

  1. Open Yearli Desktop.
  2. Select the Import Data button the dashboard.
  3. Choose Import via Excel.
  4. Select the appropriate 1095 or 1094 form.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Choose the Excel Template and Instructions link.
