SYMPTOM

When opening up Yearli the program may hang for a few seconds and a window will open displaying the following error:
“Unable to locate Yearli database”.

CAUSE

This message will occur when Yearli is unable to find the database attached to the SQL Server.  This usually results from an incomplete installation.

RESOLUTION

Procedure 1 (Check for anti-virus or anti-spam / Run database attach executables)

  1. Determine if anti-virus or anti-spyware software was running during the installation. If they were running, go to Procedure 2; otherwise proceed to the next step.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\Yearli\20XX\* where XX is the year of the software, for the affected version of Yearli.
  3. Check to see if a folder called Data exists in this directory. If the folder does not exist, go to Procedure 2; otherwise proceed to the next step.
  4. Run the database attach executable located in the Utilities folder (AttachDB_Yearli_20XX), located at C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\Yearli\20XX\*.
  5. Open Yearli to see if the error persists.

*The file directory will differ depending on the version of the program. The file directories associated with each version of the program are:
