SYMPTOM

How do I make a backup of my Yearli Desktop database file?

DESCRIPTION

Before a database can be manually backed up, the SQL Server instance for Yearli must be temporarily stopped on the server or standalone machine.  There are two ways to create the backup: using the Yearli Backup App or manually creating the backup.

RESOLUTION

Procedure 1 (Using the database backup application)

Note: If this is a network installation, the following steps must be performed on the Yearli Server computer.

  1. Close Yearli.
  2. Navigate to the Yearli Installation directory for the desired year.*
  3. Open the Utilities folder.
  4. In the Utilities folder, right click the Yearli Desktop Backup App and choose Run as Administrator.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Choose the year of the software you would like to backup.
  7. Click Browse to choose where the backup will be saved.
  8. Click Backup.
  9. Click Finish to close the wizard.

*The file directory will differ depending on the version of the program. The file directories associated with each version of the program are:

  • WinFiler: C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\WinFiler or WinFiler Server
  • WinFiler Plus and Yearli 2014: C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\WinFiler Plus or WinFiler Plus Server
